The 2020 U.S. Open begins on Thursday, and even in a tournament with Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm, Winged Foot Golf Club is expected to be the star attraction. This is the sixth U.S. Open held at Winged Foot, and the last time this major was held there, Phil Mickelson famously hit the hospitality tent on the 18th hole and made double-bogey to lose by a stroke. Mickelson, who will be back in the 2020 U.S. Open field, won on the Champions Tour three weeks ago, but it’s been over seven years since he last captured a major.
The second golf major of the season, the 2020 U.S. Open, is here.
The 2020 golf major schedule may be skewed — this event was supposed to take place from June 18-21, after all. And while the U.S. Open is traditionally the third major of the season, golf fans will doubtless be glad to see the return of one of the cornerstone events of the season.
